How interesting that within the first 15 minutes of Scorsese's film debut, we see a collection of images and shots that would ultimately be the basis of his entire career: his mother, the Virgin Mary, young men breaking out into a street fight, a slowed down shot of a beautiful girl, and a soundtrack of rock'n'roll music.
