Review of War Witch (2012) by Olivier B — 26 Nov 2012
Canada's entry into the Oscar race for Best Foreign Language Pic of 2012 is its most powerful nominee in that category yet. Directed with assurance by relative unknown Kim Nguyen, and containing a remarkable, life-affirming performance by newcomer Rachel Mwanza as a tween child soldier in an unnamed Sub-Saharan African country (though filmed in the Congo).
As powerful as it is thoughtful.
