Review of Wanda (1970) by Eric R — 21 Jun 2009
This film is like if you took Bonnie and Clyde, took out alll of the romanticism, and had the film directed by John Cassavetes. Needless to say its a very naturalistic film that has no real plot or message behind it.
Its about this young woman whom is essentially has a worthless existence. I love how Barbara Loden did not dramatize the actions of the characters, but rather lets it simply play out. The filmstock and sound only help this effort, and we really get an underappreciated film, that does not get the respect it deserves.
