Review of Waking Sleeping Beauty (2009) by Sasha S — 27 Jun 2010
Like my favorite documentary from last year, Every Little Step, your enjoyment of Waking Sleeping Beauty will likely hinge on your interest in the subject matter. However, even if you aren't a diehard Disney fan, Waking Sleeping Beauty is a well-made documentary about one of film's most important (especially currently) mediums.
The film touches on many of Disney's brightest moments, as well as some of its most stunning failures. It's surprisingly emotional stuff; in the midst of all the corporate power games and financial stresses, this is the story of passionate people making art that has touched millions of lives.
To get a glimpse behind that curtain is an amazing thing.
