Review of Waitress (2007) by Lori M — 27 Dec 2009
The most heart-warming, funny, emotional, and surprising movie I've ever seen :) I would never change a thing about it. I loved that the characters were all imperfect. No one had the perfect life or qualities, everyone had their quirks and flaws but they were so real because of that.
Keri Russell was unbelievable and developed Jenna so incredibly well as a character. Nathan Fillion's character was a perfect match for Jenna too. He was just the right amount of sweet and optimistic that I actually believed a man like him could really come in and teach her how to love herself and the life she could make with her baby.
And the letters to her baby were such a perfect way for her to not only connect with her baby, but also discover herself without anyone else over her shoulder making her something she wasn't. This is in every way an incredible movie that deserves all of the acclaim it received and then some! It's such a shame Adrienne Shelley didn't get to see her movie make Sundance :(.
