Review of Volver (2006) by Sylvia G — 05 Sep 2009
There is no director who depicts women's fate and pain better than Pedro Almodovar. He does it with such credibility - again - in Volver. The heavy, full of pain- atmosphere sets in early in the film, peaks at the scene of Raymunda's (P.
Cruz) singing and hangs in there for the rest of the story - though slightly dissolving towards the end. Women's lives and fates, solitudes, pain, small community - his film is full of emotions. Penelope Cruz proves again that she is a great talent.
