Review of Viva Zapata! (1952) by Les E — 11 Jan 2014
Kazan's biopic on the life of the key figure and charismatic leader in the Mexican revolution is heavily romanticised and relies on a great performance by Marln Brando in top shape. The cinematography displays well the setting and it is conveyed well along with its themes by the great black and white photography.
Interetsing to think that Kazan would have made a leader with leftist ideals after his infamous testimony to the HUAC which haunted his whole career and still does.
