Probably the greatest special effects in any movie I've ever seen, but let's forget about the special effects (we all know they don't make a good movie) for a moment, and what we have is an exploration like no other of technology's effect on humans.
The concept of "the new flesh"--the merging of sources electronic and biological--results in the previously mentioned special effects and also allows for a study of madness, obsession and control.
