Review of Veronica Guerin (2003) by Inger M — 28 Nov 2008

This is one of my favorite movies; I showed it to a class of high school sophomores and they also loved it. It tells the story of Veronica Guerin (brilliantly played by Cate Blanchett), a popular Irish investigative journalist, and the limitations she hits when she does the job particularly well. She uncovers and infiltrates an extensive underground Irish drug ring with powerful muscle. Its leaders are threatened and in turn, try to stop her.

Fabulous job - the fact that this is a precedent-setting true story is alternately chilling and inspiring. All people interested in journalism should see this.
