I don't understand the point of historical fiction films -- are not the REAL people and events interesting enough?? Because this "Vatel" crap is certainly dull as hell. Not to mention the casting was way off (Julian Sands reminds me more of Charles II than Louis XIV, and Monsieur was all wrong, just to name two).

And WHAT, may I ask, was the deal with Tim Roth's faux-hawk?!
