Review of Upstream Color (2013) by Bil H — 12 Oct 2013
One of the most incredibly original films I've seen in a long long time. Nearly the entire thing is done in a sort of montage. The dialogue is so sparse and devoid of exposition that it makes you wonder why more stories can't be told this way.
Except that the answer is clear. Few filmmakers have the technical expertise to tell a story like this. I loved every second of it. I found it to be more accessible than his first flick, Primer. But no less fascinating.
I wanted to know more about the characters when it was over but I was not left disappointed at all. Definitely worth your time.
