Review of Tracker (2010) by Andrew T — 08 Oct 2011
A veteran of South African Boer war arrives in New Zealand in 1902, and is recruited by a British officer to join a group of soldiers tracking down a Maori native accused of murder. The pursuit takes them deep into the mountain wilderness of New Zealand, and the South African splits off from the rest of the group. He eventually captures the Maori, but becomes more sympathetic toward the man as he begins to understand him.
The beautiful mountain landscapes of New Zealand make this film worth seeing. The story has some clever twists and turns, as the Maori native repeatedly escapes, and is re-captured. It's also interesting to see the South African and the Maori form an unlikely bond with each other as they realize they have a common enemy: the British.
