Review of Track 29 (1988) by Laura B — 09 Aug 2012
I have no idea what the director intended, but this hallucinatory thriller attempts for unsettling but ultimately evolves into a film so preposterously silly that I couldn't help but laugh at unintentional comedic parts.
Gary Oldman is my absolute favorite actor and is initially the reason I gave this film a chance but I regretted it immediately. Despite Oldman's usual brilliance, the acting from the remaining cast was horrifyingly bad.
It was actually painful to sit through. The script really isn't all that bad, but the approach to it was unforgiving. In the hands of someone else, I'm sure it could have been a provocative, unsettling grim little film but instead we have this mess.
