Review of THX 1138 (1971) by The Invisible One — 05 Aug 2008
Personally my favorite George Lucas film. It is an acquired taste, but once the taste sinks in, the film leaves you with a haunting reality and surrounds you with disturbing characters...as well as the dark twists the plot takes...
Every character is so very memorable, even the small part Sid Haig played.
I will admit...the first time I watched it, I was bored to death...but I expected this to be another Star Wars...but, after I acquired the taste for pure Sci-Fi, I sat down and thoroughly enjoyed this...
I even felt the sympathy that Lucas intended for the few true nerds in the audience to feel for THX in the film...(lol).
A surreal, haunting, true sci-fi epic vision. If only cinema would tap back into the ideals of individuality and break the mold as this film once did...
