Review of The Yellow Birds (2018) by Jeremiah C — 19 Jun 2017
The Yellow Birds tells the story of two young soldiers, Bartle (21) and Murph (18) navigate the terrors of the Iraq war under the command of the older, troubled Sergeant Sterling. All the while, Bartle is tortured by a promise he made to Murph's mother before their deployment.
Overall, The Yellow Birds is nothing new. It's not interesting or stunning at all. The novel was great, but The Yellow Birds [film] should've been an exciting, and intense film. But is not what you get when you first come into it. Too, the performances go way long, and when the film continues to try and get the audience more thrilled, when the story is already boring, it just becomes more stupid.
