Review of The Words (2012) by Martinelle A — 15 Sep 2012
This movie is definitely on my list of the top 5 movies of 2012. Many (ok, all) of the reviews of this film do not even attempt to discuss the core issue the film depicts at its core: the consequences of ignoring truth.
Other reviewers talk about the basic element of the plot: who says or does what; they do not go into detail about who needs to say or do (or doesn't say or doesn't do) the truth, or act truthfully when the time comes.
The title of this film is relevant in making a synopsis: it is because there are words that create the reality or illusion that we chose to live in, and consequently force others into. Words create meaning and it is without words (or not using words) that our lives and the lives of those around us become chaotic and dysfunctional.
