Review of The Wizard of Speed and Time (1989) by Tom F — 13 Feb 2013
I love this movie. EVERY aspiring young filmmaker should be required to watch this. It is one of those rare looks into the way that the Hollywood system works. It pulls few punches when showing the difficulty of making a movie.
Any movie. It has a charming mix of professional and non-professional actors and a well written script. The star of the show, however, Is Mike Jittlove and his painstaking in-camera and post-production effects.
For its "old-school" approach it is still robust as a benchmark of visual effects standards. It would not be easy or simple to duplicate all of this, even with modern technology. We are taken on a tremendously fun ride that explains that following dreams means something.
It still does.
