Review of The Witnesses (2007) by Enrique Z — 22 Oct 2007
Andre Techine's understated slice of life observation of 1984 is a sharply observed, warmly human look at the onset of AIDS. Like his flawed characters - a group of friends with secrets and lies amongst them - the audience becomes a witness to the devastation wrought by the disease.
A timely reminder of how AIDS remains a cruel plague, and how life must continue in the face of it.
