Review of The Star (1952) by William D — 18 Feb 2011
Say what you will about this movie, but Bette Davis got an Oscar nomination and proved one last time in the Hollywood system that she still had it. However, life imitated art too much and she like her character Margaret went south a little too much. Tragic. None-the-less this is a brilliant film that looks at the system that makes and breaks stars and it looks wonderful. It was a really good movie in my opinion.
"Come on Oscar! Let's get drunk!" She plays a great angry drunk!
