Review of The Song (2014) by Bekah W — 21 Sep 2014
The Song connects on a visceral level - demonstrating what we all long for (meaning, purpose) while illuminating our humanity - our desire to be wanted, longed for. Through the life of Jed King, a rising singer/songwriter we experience the roller coaster of fame and all of the good and bad that comes with it.
It's a striking portrayal of our western obsession with celebrity and our rubbernecked tendencies to wait for the eventual crash of our heroes. The Song is cautionary, yes. But, it also gives viewers a look at what love and romance can be and perhaps most profoundly, how a strong woman can stand her ground.
