Review of The Queen of Versailles (2012) by Keith N — 07 Jan 2013
An absolutely fascinating documentary into the way the top 1% of 1 percenters lives and what happens when they are forced by their lenders to scale back their bloated habits and live within their (slightly less wealthy) means after the 2008 financial crisis.
Although they are your classic rich: an uber-conservative workaholic husband, his primped up, pumped up trophy wife, and their rotten spoiled 8 kids, half-way through the movie you might find yourself becoming endeared to their eccentric personalities and perverse charm.
This rags-to-Gucci-to-Walmart movie has enough inherent comedy to entertain viewers through its 100-minute runtime.
