Review of The Proposition (2005) by Trevor F — 20 Feb 2009
Western with an eerie feel to it. The unusual style of the characters is truly memorable. Pearce, Winstone, Wenham and Hurt five excellent performances in this very quirky, very violent western. However Danny Huston steals the show as Arthur Burns.
It is truly a gripping tale of loyalty and consequence that pushes every character to the very limits of their existence. Fantastically told, shot, scored and acted. An all time classic that can be appreciated by audiences wanting action as well as audiences wanting stunning visual imagery and pure poetry on screen.
Scripted by Nick Cave (as well as music) and directed by John Hillcoat, truly a little masterpiece.
