Review of The Pervert's Guide to Ideology (2012) by Roger R — 08 Jun 2013
This is now officially my equal first favourite film with Lawrence of Arabia and Tarkovsky;s "Stalker." I did a degree in in film and media studies and have been a voracious consumer of quality cinema since childhood.
I Like Walter Benjamin, Lacan, Foucault, Derrida, Barthes, Metz, Baudrillard etc etc but weren't in awe of them or in love with them. I could spell jouissance. . I finally "got" that post modernism was real watching the first series of the Simpsons.
As a child I sensed the romantic aspects of The sound of Music and felt uneasy at the bizarre scene where the nun sing "Climb Every mountain". I love all the films Zizek references until no not knowing exactly why.
Zizek is a genius, he has opened my mind with his insight, charm and humour.
