Review of The Island (2007) by Mihail B — 07 Jul 2011
One of the best movies seen this year.
Deceptively simple, "Ostrov" tells what is in the core of (Ortohodox Christian) faith: God is alive and not oblivious to us. He talks to us and through us.
If you are an Orthodox, the movie may have an "awakening" effect.
For others, it's still a wonderful movie and a proof of the strength of Russian cinematography. It has the same impact as "Potemkin".
