Review of The Halloween Tree (1993) by Shiela E — 26 Nov 2013
I loved this. ray bradbury is a master storyteller, and he manages to give you the history of several of our oldest halloween traditions in a little over an hour. terrific and subtle plot too. he doesn't hit you over the head with it.
he lets the viewer slowly determine what mr. mountshroud, the tree and the pumpkins really represent for the most part. the ending is terrific-the sacrifice of these kids who love their friend so much, just sweet.
would if we ALL had friends so loyal.
