Review of The Grandmother (1970) by Mike O — 15 Aug 2008
Amazing in itself, but even more so when you consider the year it was made. This was 2 years before The Godfather. Think about where cinema was and where it was going and Lynch's vision is mindblowing.
This short film is a bit too long (it drags near the end) but the imagery is stunning, the pathos compelling. The story is weird and otherworldly, yet burgeoning with sad humanity. You can see it on YouTube, cut into several episodes.
Definitely worth taking a peek.
