Review of The Face Behind the Mask (1977) by Bruce B — 14 Feb 2008
One of the greatest 'B' films of all time, with an 'A' performance by Peter Lorie. This film hits on a handful of my favorite motifs: the immigrant experience, faces, masks, plastic surgery, criminality, blind insight, the list goes on.
In the Face Behind The Mask director Robert Florey has concocted the perfect amalgam of Charlie Chaplan's "City Lights" and Fritz Lang's "M.".
