Review of The Devil Came on Horseback (2007) by John P — 30 Nov 2007
A real eye-opener, this movie documents the story of a former Marine captain who takes a job working with the African Union to monitor a cease-fire between the Sudanese government and the rebels of Darfur.
Steidle remains neutral during his 6 month contract with the AU but after coming home can't keep silent knowing that his photographs had the power to change and wake up the world to the genocide. I personally did not know much about the crisis before watching this movie but this was more enough to spark my desire to push for change in Darfur.
I recommend this movie especially to anyone who does not know much about the Darfur crisis, however, those who have been following it will appreciate the inside view that Steidle gives.
