If you're just after a series of re-enactments of award-winning accidents, or an opportunity to sneer at stupid people, then this film is probably not for you. The focus is on the development of Fiennes' character over the course of his quest to figure out what it is that makes people do the sort of things that may eg.
earn them a Darwin Award. Do they all have some unfortunate trait in common, something that you can spot in advance and compensate for, or are they just regular folks like you and I? What drives them to live the way they do? In answering these questions, Fiennes' character Michael Burrows turns from the very contrived, obsessive, over-cautious detective we see at the beginning of the film to.
