Review of The Dark Horse (2014) by Tim M — 03 Feb 2018
The New Zealand film 'The Dark Horse' is based on the true story of a chess champion with mental illness. Cliff Curtis gives an inspired performance to carry the movie, until it runs out of steam.
One of the things to slows it down are the montages of chess. At 127 minutes the story could have been told in a much tighter fashion, but it's Curtis you need to watch the movie for. What a joy to watch such a committed man to his work.
Final Score: 7.8/10.
