Review of The Class (2008) by Tim W — 17 Mar 2009
This film is so well considered and avoids the cliches of the genre. Indeed The Class or Entre Les Murs is a masterclass of French cinema. I would put it as the enfant terrible/companion to the other genius classroom film of the past few years, Etre et Avoir.
It opens questions into the nature of teaching and discipline and it offers a balanced viewpoint and does patronise the student or the teacher. I came out of the cinema elated, learned and enlightened by this film.
An absolute must see.
