Review of The Awakening (1990) by Jason D — 27 Nov 2008
The Awakening is the first in a trilogy of Death Shorts that rising direct Nacho Cerdà has envisioned on film for us. The first one, a small and simple black and white college film project focuses on a young man who realizes that time has stopped all around him except for himself.
Stuck in the classroom, everything around him in this bizarre turn of events is overtaking him, until he realizes that has has died when he sees himself on the ground, lifeless, and trying to be resuscitated by a fellow classmate.
Nacho's first story is a unique envisioning for showing the act of death, though for the most part, it's kind of bland compared to his next to stories.
