Review of The Art of the Steal (2010) by Chris H — 13 Feb 2011
Smart and sad little documentary about how greed and politics ruined one of the best art collections in the world. I found the story of the Barnes collection absolutely fascinating, and was equally appalled when the story of how the Philadelphia art museum slowly but surely got its grubby little hands on it.
The only drawback here is that it tends to get a bit slow near the conclusion, with the interviewees slightly over-explaining the situation. Nevertheless, still recommended.
