Review of Telstar: The Joe Meek Story (2008) by Richard H — 13 Feb 2010
Great biopic of the music producer Joe Meek who operated his recording studios out of a flat above a handbag shop in Holloway Road. Top tunes like The Tornados title track and John Leyton's Johnny remember Me .
.. seeing the ramshackle but inspired way it was recorded brings the music alive, then there is the dark side of Joe's life - with it's authentically captured '60s setting and tragic end plays out a bit like Prick Up Your Ears.
Excellently directed by Nick Moran, I feel this film was made for me. Great!
