Review of Tarka the Otter (1979) by Lee M — 16 Jan 2012
Hopelessly dated, of course, but the counter-posing of the social elite's disdain for their "inferiors" with the exploitative and cruel disdain of humans generally for animal life makes this still worth seeing, and bang up to date, unfortunately. Plus ca change and all that. Spoiler......
A critical scene is where a debutante/posh bitch spots Tarka almost making his getaway and looks for a second as if she is examining her conscience before blurting out where he is - being onside with the master of the hunt and the other toffs clearly mattering more to her than showing a spark of humanity.
