Review of Submarino (2010) by David Ray G — 11 Dec 2010
Another great Vinterberg specimen, but not one of his best in my opinion. It felt as though there was a little Trainspotting a little Brodre a little Of Mice and Men and a little Sweet Sixteen in it. Like a patchwork of other films.
Though it still retains its own magnificence and the performances are unbelievable. A movie that has balls and ugliness and truth in it. Shows how mistakes of our past may come to haunt us later, how much the way you grow up counts to what you'll become. And there is no light at the end of this tunnel.
Typically wonderful Vinterberg, but I still felt a little disappointed in it since I always expect too much from him.
