Bollywood-trainded cast and crewman should stick to what they're good at rather than aim to achieve a so-called "western" style. Student of the Year is a clear example of why it should be so, be it in the its shallow plot, its nonsensical dialogue or the poor chemistry between its cast.

A minute amount of credit goes to a handful of small-role actors (wish they had more screen-time) and the few good music-numbers.
