Equal parts Fassbinder and Hitchcock, STRANGER BY THE LAKE explores the dark underbelly of sexual infatuation. With instant gratification as dangerous as disease; danger and viscous bodily fluids abound, underpinning the traps and torture of longing and self loathing.
Using the almost too realistic setting of a gay cruise ground, exclusively, this minimalist thriller juxtaposes graphic sex with the threat of physical violence. In doing so, it generates remarkably understated suspense, elevating an overlooked flaw in human nature.
But lust can trump all sense, in more ways than murder...
