Review of Stolen Summer (2002) by Josh P — 26 May 2007

I recently rented season one of "Project: Greenlight" and decided to rent this movie to see how the finished product ended up. I have to say that it was a lot better than I was expecting and even though I knew many of the plot points from the series, it did not detract from my enjoyment of the film.

I found the performances to all be quite good with Bonnie Hunt and Aidan Quinn standing out. I thought the weakest part of the film was Kevin Pollak's character. I can't quite pinpoint what was wrong but everything seemed forced with this guy.

Not sure if it was the writing or the delivery. I'm not sure what happened to director Pete Jones, his career seems to have stopped after a smaller movie in 2004. Too bad, he seemed to have a lot of potential.

Maybe the Hollywood 'machine' was too much for him, I think it would have been too much for me!
