Review of Sorry to Bother You (2018) by Ashley B — 15 Oct 2018
When I first saw the trailer for Sorry to Bother You I wanted to see it immediately. I went to see it on opening night too, if I'm not mistaken. Sorry to Bother You was such a breath of fresh air that I needed from a movie.
It made me want to go and start a union at my workplace the next day, as I'm sure it did for others as well. The story, art, raunchiness, and brutal truth of the corporate world and its effects on the average American were not missed in this film and were accentuated in the best ways possible, especially through Detroit.
I loved her style and her stick-it-to-the-man-so-hard-that-i'll-leave-my-boyfriend-when-he-turns-into-a-bootlicker-too-because-that's-who-I-am attitude. The soundtrack for this movie is DOPE as hell too.
I still listen to it and have it saved on my Spotify as a playlist. The soundtrack is also produced by The Coup, Boots Riley's band. That's tight.
