Review of Shutter Island (2010) by Landon M — 26 Oct 2015
A mindbending masterpiece. This movie is usually disregarded as one of Scorcese's "ehh" movies, but that's because it isn't as similar to Goodfellas as they want it to be. This movie proves that Scorcese can do more than just fun gangster movies.
DiCaprio gives a phenomenal, under-appreciated performance, and it also features fantastic performances from Ben Kingsley and Mark Ruffalo. The movie is eerie and tense, with some of the most beautiful visuals ever seen in a Scorcese movie.
The movie becomes truly unique with it's phenomenal twist ending that makes you feel like you are just as insane as the people in the movie. The movie is an unforgettable experience, and gets better the more you watch it.
9.75/10.
