Review of Shoeshine (1946) by Irvin C — 25 Oct 2008
Regarded as one of the greatest films in the Italian neo-realist movement and with good reason: It's a great film. It's an absolutely heartbreaking sad tale of two boys during post-war Italy whose friendship and lives are changed forever and definitely not for the better.
I would rank this alongside "Bicycle Thieves" as among De Sica's masterpieces.
