Review of Shazam! (2019) by Hubbeltr — 04 Apr 2019
The style of humor in this movie landed with me, but I understand how it might not for others. It is on the childish side, but I do tend to enjoy the "manchild" style of humor, EX: Castle, and Psych.
The acting by Zach Levi was on point, and the more serious topics addressed were handled in a realistic and thoughtful manner. The characters ultimately change from cynical and selfish to the hero you were hoping for in a way that didn't feel overly optimistic, and how I would expect a 14 year old with a traumatic past to handle a situation like this.
I am excited to see this movie again.
