One of the best period flicks I've ever seen, this outclasses Pearl Harbor by a large margin. John Cusack gives a sterling performance as the Naval Intelligence hack who falls in love with the mesmerizing Li Gong while investigating his best friends' death.

The story is tragic, beautiful and poetic at the same time. The photography, staging and costumes are almost sad and you realise the depth of the directors passion. It is highly recommended, especially iof you're a film afficianado like me.

Even if you're not a film buff but a romantic and love movies like Casablanca, this takes you just close enough to feel the joy and pain of a great love story.
