Review of Shanghai (2010) by Nacho S — 28 Aug 2012
This movie doesn't deserve one (any) star but just because I love John Cusack too much, even his worst movie should get anything.
Right from the start I wasn't sure that Cusack can be actually casted as a spy. Now I know for sure - he can't. But if that was the only problem of the movie, it wouldn't be that bad. Unfortunately, miscast was just the beginning. Until the end of the movie you can't understand - what genre director was trying to show here? Romance? Sort of. Detective? Sort of as well. Everything looks way too undone here, as if some ideas were just written down, but never make it till the end.
