Review of Sexy Beast (2001) by Dave B — 06 Mar 2008
Incredible. Story's good, Glazer's directing's terrific. (The Strangler's tune in the opening sequence is worth the price alone.) And Ben Kingsley's at the top of his game. You want to start from the beginning because his part in the movie is just that savory.
Kingsley makes his character as funny and wild as he is scary and dark. Side question: Why don't we see more films by the likes of Jonathan Glazer, Mark Romanek, Spike Jonze, et al.? Less Ratner, more Romanek is how this industry should be running things.
