Review of Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll (2010) by Scott S — 12 Oct 2011
This is a great biopic about the late punk rock icon Ian Dury. And it is a truly wild ride of a movie... in large part to the incredible performance of Andy Serkis (most famous for playing Gollum in The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy) and also thanks to it's creative, and artistic direction.
As big a music fan as I am, I wasn't actually all too familiar with Ian Dury, or his music before seeing this film. Aside from having a song or two of his on the odd compliation. The movie does a very god job though of showing just what a charasmatic and enigmatic (though often self- destructive) figure he was.
And the movie is also a call to arms for all people with disabilities, misanthropes... and potential punk rockers everwhere.
