Review of Serpico (1973) by Ifiok O — 03 Jul 2010
Al Pacino gives one of his finest performances as Frank Serpico, an honest cop who is surrounded by colleagues who are corrupted to the core. It's a slowly built, but nicely paced cop drama that doesn't follow any of the conventions found in some of Hollywood's more cliched cop movies.
It's as authentic and honest to New York Police drama as the character itself. Pacino channels plenty of anger, passion, and frustration into his performance as Serpico, and is quite possibly his best work.
