Review of Seabiscuit (2003) by Ryan A — 14 Dec 2009
Seabiscuit is a great American story of perseverance and triumph during America's most difficult days, The Great Depression. It's not just a story about an amazing horse full of fight, but also about how Seabiscuit brings life back, not just to those closest to him, but to America when it needed inspiration the most.
In today's time when horse racing is a secondary event, it's impossible, even through this film, to fully appreciate the importance and the impact of Seabiscuit on America during the Great Depression.
Aside from chronicling what Seabiscuit meant to the country, I especially love the scenes that show the parrallels in the lives of Seabiscuit and jockey, Red Pollard.
For as much as I love Return of the King and Lord of the Rings, Seabiscuit should have won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
