Review of Scoop (2006) by Lou S — 22 May 2008
A gem of a movie. I haven't watched a whole lot of Woody Allen movies, but I rented this one with a friend on a whim. The beginning threw me off a bit, but once we got about ten minutes into it, we were laughing so hard for the rest of it.
Scarlett Johansson is a determined but a bit aloof journalism student, who gets a tip from a dead journalist that Hugh Jackman's character may be a murderer. Along with Woody Allen's character, Johansson takes on an adventure to solve the mystery of the tarot card killer, while unraveling a romantic relationship with the possible suspect.
Listen carefully when you're watching this movie because you don't want to miss those subtle lines of humor shrewdly delivered, particularly by Woody Allen himself.
